WATCHING THEM GROW

It's been two years now that OBG has been open.  Man time flies.  I've loved every minute of it, nope wait, that's a lie.  Anyway, it's awesome to see how people have changed and grown into such strong climbers.  I'm starting to realize that I will never be as strong as Chris Sharma and that's hard to accept.  Anybody who loves climbing wants to be stronger and climb forever, but as I get older and gain more responsibilities I find my goals are getting harder to reach.  This is OK, why, because climbing is more than a selfish push to gain strength and number grades.  Climbing involves service.  Service to the sport, your climbing partners, local crags, etc. I don't know, maybe I'm just saying that to make up an excuse why all the the young kids at the gym are climbing harder than me now or maybe there is some truth to it.  If you care enough about climbing you'll take the time to think about it and if you climb long enough you'll probably understand it and realize that yes, climbing is selfish and that's OK but it is also much more than that.
